Brick Farm Lakes is holding its first Open Day on Sunday 29th April 2012 from 10am-4pm in association with the Eastbourne & District Fly Fishers’ Club. Entry and parking are free and everyone is welcome. 

Our first Christmas Ladies versus Gents Fishing Competition was a rip roaring good day. Three teams (1 Ladies and 2 Gents) produced a close finish with all but 1 angler catching their full bag within the 4 hours allowed.

A new year brings a new lake as work starts on a third lake at Brick Farm, should be ready for next winter. Conditions continue to be good with catch rates around 90%. Flies working include Cats Whiskers, Damsels, Blobs and Montanas.
 

With Autumn refusing to let Winter in, conditions have been great for fishing over the past month with catch rates over 90%. The track down to the lodge and lakes has been resurfaced making for a much smoother drive and Well Lake has been much cleared of weed and reeds.

A glorious autumn is making conditions much better than during August and catch rates have been over 80% during the past couple of months with waters remaining clear.

Excellent fishing with well with over 1400 fish having been taken in the past month with over 85% of anglers reaching their bag limit. Dozen brown trout now being stocked weekly along with larger rainbows.

Spring weather is producing some fine fighting fishing whilst the memory of the long harsh winter fades – so sun hats on, coats off.

The colder weather is producing some excellent fishing. Recent rainbow catches include a 5lb 9oz by John Catt from Tonbridge on a Damsel, 5lb 2oz by John Beard from Seaford on a Cats Whisker, 4lb by Jenna Hildebrand from Gravesend on a Green & Black, 3lb 11oz by John Butler from Tunbridge Wells on a Montana and 3lb 10oz by R Fox from Hastings on a Cats Whisker.

After a hot, dry, slow July fish are showing much more activity on the surface. Recent rainbow catches include a 5lb 2oz by John Harratt from St Leonards-on-Sea on a Diawl Bach, 4lb 6oz by A Smith from Crowborough on a Black Fritz, 4lb 4oz by Bob Casey from Battle on a Minkie,  4lb by A Steel from Eastbourne on an Ace of Spades and a 4lb 6oz by L Wilson from Peacehaven on a Buzzer.
